Inside Line Promotions – OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (June 13, 2017) – Zane Hendricks has climbed to eighth in the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget Series championship standings during his first full season competing in a midget.

However, last Saturday’s show at I-44 Riverside Speedway was a struggle. The team was forced to park their micro sprint because of mechanical woes and they didn’t fare much better in the midget competition.

“We started on the pole and got into it with the outside guy on the start,” Hendricks said. “I had the lead for the first two or three laps. I hit a rut and my entire battery completely fell out of the car.”

Hendricks was leading a heat race just before the midpoint when he suddenly slowed on the track because of the problem, which resulted in a DNF. That relegated him to the back of the B Main.

“I started almost dead last in the B Main,” he said. “I probably passed five cars or so early, but I spun out running mid-pack and another car got into us. That bent the front axle.”

Hendricks had advanced just outside of a transfer position when the incident led to another DNF.

“We just have to get the mechanical things fixed and finish the races,” he said. “We’ve been doing well when we finish, but we’ve had a bunch of issues. We’re taking the next couple of weeks off and are hoping to get the kinks worked out of the system.”

Hendricks is slated to return to action June 30 at RPM Speedway in Crandall, Texas, and July 1 at Superbowl Speedway in Greenville, Texas, with the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget Series.
