Inside Line Promotions – PEVELY, Mo. (Aug. 8, 2017) – Zane Hendricks captured his career-best result with the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series last Friday during his debut at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55.

Hendricks opened the doubleheader, which was co-sanctioned with the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget Series, by charging from ninth to fourth place in a heat race.

“The car in front of me didn’t take off and I hopped his tire at the start,” he said. “We stayed green so the rest of the field got out on us by the time I got going. We had one caution, which helped me get back by some cars. I really was running where they weren’t to pass them. The car was handling really good.”

That earned a spot in the feature redraw, which lined Hendricks up on the outside of the second row for the main event.

“I fell back on the start pretty quick,” he said. “I was a little loose. The track had slicked off quite a bit. We had a couple of early cautions and I messed with my shocks a bit. That helped, but I wasn’t going anywhere. After a late caution I changed my line and started running a little higher. I went from 13th to seventh in the last six or seven laps. I wish I would have found that line a little sooner.”

Hendricks closed the night with a seventh-place result, which marked his seventh top 10 of the season.

Saturday’s event was rained out.

Hendricks will return to action this Saturday at Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Okla., with the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget Series.
