Inside Line Promotions – STILLWATER, Okla. (Jan. 8, 2018) – Zane Hendricks is a lot more comfortable entering the 32nd annual Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Midget Nationals this year.

Hendricks made his debut at the event, which is hosted inside the River Spirit Expo Center in Tulsa, Okla., last year.

“It was my third race ever in a midget,” he said. “This year I have a lot more confidence going in.”

Hendricks is slated to compete on Friday during preliminary action prior to Saturday’s finale. He enters the event on the heels a successful rookie season racing a midget. Hendricks posted a top-five finish in the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget Series championship standings along with earning his first career midget win in 2017.

With experience on his side, Hendricks is now seeking a little luck.

“Last year’s Chili Bowl started out really well and then went really bad really quick,” he said. “I had a really good heat race going and was leading. Then we had a fuel pump issue so I didn’t get to finish it. It was a strange deal. You have to have a little bit of luck there.”

The first goal this year is to make the preliminary night A Main.

“The ultimate goal is to make the feature on Saturday night, too,” he said. “First off, I want to put myself in a position to do well Saturday night and that means running well on Friday.”
