Inside Line Promotions – STILLWATER, Okla. (Feb. 6, 2018) – Zane Hendricks is looking forward to his first visit to Florida this weekend as he is planning to engage in a full season of competition with the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League.

Hendricks will compete on Friday and Saturday at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala for the inaugural Sunshine State Midget Challenge, which kicks off the season.

“I’m really looking forward to going to Florida,” he said. “I’ve never been there before and it will be nice to get away from the weather here.”

Unfortunately, it will also mark the first time that the high school senior’s father won’t be there to assist him.

“My dad isn’t able to make the trip so Brad Loyet is hauling my car there and he’ll be my crew chief,” Zane Hendricks said. “I’m really looking forward to racing there. It sounds like it will be a fun track to drive with its unique shape. Although I haven’t seen the track, Brad has raced there so that will help.”

After finishing fifth in the POWRi West championship standings last year, Hendricks is stepping up to follow the POWRi National tour this year.

“It’s not 100 percent certain yet, but we’re planning on running the National schedule,” he said. “We still have to take care of some sponsorship yet for it to happen, but that’s what we’re preparing for now.”

A disappointing Chili Bowl Midget Nationals last month led to a busy time last weekend in preparation for the trip to Florida.

“We damaged our engine at the Chili Bowl and shipped it back to the builder the Sunday after we raced there,” he said. “We just got it back last Friday. We put it in the car on Friday, then hauled the car to Brad’s in St. Louis and turned around and drove home. It was a busy weekend, but well worth it because I’m excited to get to Florida to start the season.”
