Inside Line Promotions – STILLWATER, Okla. (March 8, 2018) – In a major change of racing plans for this year, Zane Hendricks will drive a second car for Tucker-Boat Motorsports and he will compete for the Rookie of the Year Award on the USAC P1 Insurance National Midget Series.

The decision came on the heels of Hendricks’s successful first weekend of driving for the team in February at Bubba Raceway Park, where he advanced 20 positions in two feature events during his first time in the car and at the track. The joint venture in Florida was originally proposed as a single weekend partnership as Hendricks had planned to campaign his family-owned car on the POWRi trail this season.

“After Florida, Tucker-Boat Motorsports decided they wanted to have a two-car team and gave us the opportunity to be in the second car,” Hendricks said. “I’m really excited. I’ll definitely have a great car and Chad, Billy and Corey will obviously be a tremendous help to me as I race a new series and at new tracks.

“I’ve never run with USAC before. I know they’ve always been competitive, but I think this year it will be even more so, especially among the rookies. I think there are four or five drivers who are racing for Rookie of the Year who are all very good. And, of course, USAC has a number of the best midget drivers and cars in the country competing full time.”

Hendricks will tackle his first USAC event this weekend during the Shamrock Classic inside the Southern Illinois Center in Du Quoin, Ill., on Saturday.

“I’ve never raced there,” he said. “I haven’t even seen the track. Fifty laps on a track that small should be something. But it will definitely help a lot having a team that’s raced there before. I’m really looking forward to it.”
